C.D.I. Systems (http://www.cdisys.com) exhibited recently at the 2008 AJL Annual Convention that was held in Cleveland USA.
C.D.I. Systems’ representatives were among the 250 Librarians, archivists, and scholars from numerous disciplines that met at the AJL (the Association of Jewish Libraries) convention to share their interest in Judaica librarianship and related areas.
At the convention, the new Jewish Sources Portal (http://www.jewish-sources.com) was showcased to demonstrate the broadest collection of online Jewish databases,
all based on C.D.I. Systems’ online technology – NetIS™, encouraging access to information, learning, teaching and research relating to Jews, Judaism, the Jewish experience and Israel through an advanced technological user interface .

Participants were particularly impressed from the fact that the databases in the portal were equipped with a three lingual interface (Hebrew, English and French ), and included an intelligent query interface allowing
sophisticated queries. Another unique feature of the portal was the inner connectivity of the content from multiple resources, automatically linking ancient book facsimiles to bibliography records and educational
resources referring to it - thus broadening the researcher horizon and knowledge.

Fostering the goals of the AJL of promoting Jewish literacy through enhancement of libraries and library resources, the Jewish Sources Portal included numerous Jewish databases including The Bibliography of the Hebrew Book,
containing over 140,000 documents, and more than 15,000 biographies of authors, over a period of 500 years; The Responsa Project, featuring the world's largest electronic collection of Torah
literature of its kind and the winner of the Israel Prize in the field of Torah literature for the year 2007; Otzar Ha-Hochma Library - the World's Largest Online Jewish Library, containing nearly 30,000 Jewish books &
roughly four million pages and the JEDU Treasures Project - an online database devoted to all the written Hebrew sources concerned with educational thought and the history of Jewish Education from the Middle
Ages until the advent of modern education at the beginning of the Twentieth century.
Ms. Michal Ashkenazy, C.D.I. Systems’ Marketing Manager of Jewish Databases, said "the interest in the Jewish Sources Portal was not surprising, as it fulfilled many of the needs discussed by AJL members,
including the ability to facilitate communication and exchange of Jewish information on a global scale ".
“Enhancing information access for all, through the application of advanced technologies stimulates the
awareness of Judaica library services among the public at large as well as between Judaica librarians, thus ensuring the continuity of research in this crucial field” added Mr. Itzhak Levit, C.D.I. Systems CEO.
